A forestry background that evolved into geospatial technology.

My path into technology did not start from a purely software background. It started with forests, maps, environmental data and the need to solve real spatial problems.

Over time, GIS became the bridge between my academic background and my work with data engineering, automation, WebGIS and artificial intelligence.

Where I come from

I have a background in Forestry Engineering, with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in the field. During my academic path, I became increasingly involved with GIS, remote sensing and spatial analysis, especially because many forestry and environmental problems are fundamentally geographic.

That background shaped the way I work today: I do not see geospatial data only as files, layers or maps. I see it as a way to understand territory, operations, environmental change and decision-making.

Professional journey

2018

Started working deeply with GIS

During my master’s period, GIS and remote sensing became central to my work. This was when I started moving from traditional analysis into automation and geospatial programming.

2018 — 2020

Forestry technology and product development

I worked on geospatial solutions for forestry, including workflows related to forest health, wildfire detection and operational GIS. This gave me experience with real production problems, not just academic examples.

2021 — 2025

Freelance work with international clients

As a freelancer, I worked with clients from different countries on WebGIS, data pipelines, remote sensing, PostGIS, automation and AI experiments. This period helped me become comfortable communicating in English and delivering practical solutions end-to-end.

2025 — Present

Enterprise geospatial work

I currently work in a large enterprise environment, dealing with geoprocessing, data quality, internal automation, GIS systems and applied AI initiatives for geospatial operations.

What this background gives me

Domain understanding

Because I came from forestry and environmental analysis, I understand the context behind many geospatial problems — not only the technical side.

Technical execution

My career evolved toward programming, databases, cloud tools and AI, which allows me to turn geospatial ideas into working systems.

Practical mindset

I tend to focus on tools that reduce manual work, improve data reliability and fit the reality of the people who will use them.

End-to-end experience

I have worked from raw spatial data and satellite imagery to APIs, databases, dashboards, WebGIS platforms and deployed applications.

My work is about connecting geospatial knowledge with software engineering — building tools that make spatial data easier to use, understand and act on.
